TurnStyles Thrift Store, run by Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas, was looking for a way to get younger, hipper, and trendier shoppers in their doors. Their current demographic of community-conscious church-goers made frequent donations, but fewer purchases. With a surplus of rare and retro finds, the store needed to target vintage enthusiasts and sustainable shoppers alike to reach its full potential.
My fix? A campaign that flips the script on modern shopping, highlighting the benefits exclusive to thrifting. Unsatisfied with targeted ads, young shoppers increasingly crave the thrill of the chase. The rush of shopping secondhand is akin only to a scavenger hunt: you have a clue –– some inspiration, rifling through the racks until you spot an obsession.
You leave with something you never knew existed but now can’t live
without. In the process, you make a personal connection to something one-of-a-kind.
And unlike scouring SHEIN until you find the perfect dress, the adrenaline hit you score when checking out actually helps the planet.

You’ve been seeing stripes everywhere.
Except in your closet, home, and life
Let’s change that.
Stripes or otherwise, shopping at TurnStyles
helps your pocket, the community, and the planet.
Mission accomplished.
